rocko
I have a paid collection on Equifax. I want to try a goodwill letter but am not sure who to write to. It is listed on the report as Credit Control Corp. and then Cox Communications as the original creditor. Can Cox have it removed or do I need to contact Credit Control Corp. Thanks Rocko
scorch
All you need to do is simply dispute it by writing a letter to Equifax.
rocko
Thanks for the reply.Actually the account i mentioned is on Experian not Equifax.I have already disputed the account and Experian said they would not investigate it again without new information so I thought I would try a Goodwill letter.I would like to write to Cox but I don't know if they can remove it since it was sent to Credit Control Corp. Cox is mentioned on the report as the original creditor. Thanks Rocko
NightOwl1969
Most likely, Cox has sold the account to Credit Control. I'd send it to Credit Control. But don't hold your breath. Goodwill letters to a CA are about as effective as the bail out plan. GW letters seem to be more useful when dealing with a current creditor that wants to maintain a good relationship with the consumer. A CA could care less about 'customer relations'...especially if they already have your money.
rocko
It was sold to credit control and I paid it. What I want to know is can Cox remove it since they are the original creditor or must it be done by Credit Control. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
tommyindigo
Hi, I know I'm posting this a bit late relative to your original question, but I had a Cox Communications account of $822 that went to collections in 2006. The name of the collection agency is Credit Protection Associates. I sent a goodwill letter to COX, and they had CPA remove the record within 3 days! Goodwill Letters work!!FYI - I live in Rhode Island, and sent my GW letter to the VP of Customer Relations for New England (Paul Cronin). Hope that helps. jemma
Thanks for your info tommyindigo. Can I ask you what your GW letter was about? Is there any specific content that needs to be included in the letter? I have a collection record that was paid in full. (I didn't know about PFD at that time )I sent general GW letter to CPA but no response so far...Sorry if this question was stupid but this is my first time trying GWing after tons of phone calls to the customer service reps.
