Squarez
Hey all, I was going over my CR and noticed that I had a defaulted student loan on there. To try and make a long story short I used the DV method and did not get a response. My income tax refund was intercepted and when I called explaining that I send out a DV which should stop all collection activity the lady at USA Funds told me to contact Sallie Mae which I did. After the phone call, a week or 2 later I get a copy of my TU credit report and it had the results of my "investigation" and it said that there was "New Information Provided". I havent provided any information. My question is, are student loans immune to the DV process? And what can I do at this point? Any help is appreciated and any extra info needed please ask! Thanks! BTO429
Student loans, unless obtained from a private source are Government funded. DV is useless.I have Sallie Mae loans. Just call them they will work with ya and help ya out. I have never had a problem with them.
Indiana
My husband has been getting the run-around from Sallie Mae and USA Funds for about 4 years now. We've sent letters, requested information, etc. Some people we talk to say the loan doesn't exist. Next time, it's twice the amount the letter said, etc. Now it's gone to some ACT collection agency. It's for a fraudulent loan from a computer training school that closed about 10 years ago. No proof of the loan, Board of Ed has no documentation from the school. It's a mess. No one will work with us. They offered us a "hearing", then declined it. So they are just taking our tax refund.

Is this placed called 'TECHSkills USA' or some similarity?I remember when I first got Sallie Mae and wanted to work out a payment plan with them. They had a ANSWERING MAchine, not Voice Mail... Took 2 weeks to get responded back to. :/
Indiana
That doesn't sound familiar. I'm pretty sure it was always "USA Funds". The 'hearing' had an Indianapolis address.
