Shrike
Nearly all my negatives are set to drop off my report by September of this year and the biggest three of them are set to drop in April, May and then June.I would like to get right on disputing if they do not drop when scheduled so would signing up for one of these services make sense or is it just a waste of money? Amerikaner83
you could, but if you do, don't use one of the "free report and score" places sponsored by EX or TU... The only monitoring service I use is scoreWatch. It's a "real" FICO score, that sends you updates when it changes. Also gives you your EQ report. I only use it because it costs me under 10 bucks a month and I'm in the middle of getting a mortgage on our first house Regarding the "real" FICO I mentioned above...there is no truly guaranteed way to get the very exact same score that any given lender will see when they pull your credit. The FICO you get from EQ's ScoreWatch or MyFICO.com is probably the closest thing to it though. Some folks will tell you that it is not at all the same as, say, your mortgage lender will see when they pull your report. YMMV, but not once, but BOTH times BofA pulled my credit for my mortgage, my scores from ScoreWatch matched EXACTLY what BofA pulled. And they used the "Lendsafe" pull, tri-merge. Like I said, though - YMMV.
Shrike
I signed up for MyFico and a free trial from TrueCredit to see which one I like better. I'm not concerned with the score so much as what its doing. I just want to be notified of any changes to credit report.I may end up just using TrueCredit since myFico only monitors changes to Equifax and not the other two? and then just get my Fico scores yearly. Shrike
Well, today one of my old debts dropped off my CR and I got a notification from MyFico saying my score went up 10 points but I got nothing from TrueCredit. Not even their websites tells me there are any changes. I will wait to see if they are just a little slower than MyFIco but If the change doesn't show up I have no use for those guys. Tormented
you could, but if you do, don't use one of the "free report and score" places sponsored by EX or TU....I'm rather curious. Why not TrueCredit or freecreditreportonline.com? It seems to get accurate information. Or is it because the information is so 'bland' ?I may have to look at that scorewatch if fcro is worse. Shrike
Just got off the phone with canceling TrueCredit and what a bunch of shysters they are. They told me they are negotiating to have information updated to help my score and that they just need ample time. They went through each and every account and spewed BS about changing this and that when all but one is set to drop off by the end of the year.I told them I don't need anything changed I just want to be notified when an account is deleted but clearly they don't do that, at least not for me anyway. The guy then told me if I get a credit report again then I will see that they have made changes LOL!!! Are you kidding me? Isn't that what this service is for? and that account was scheduled to drop, they did nothing to have it removed. I was absolutely speechless when he said that Does anybody know of a service that reports deleted accounts from all 3 bureaus? MyFico would be perfect if they monitored all 3. Shrike
This just keeps getting better.I just took TrueCredits advice and got my annual credit report and not only did they not alert me to a deleted account but they also failed to tell me that same account was added to my report under another name with all kinds of fabrications. The account claims I made a payment in march of 2009 and nearly all other information on it is also fabricated.I just disputed the information. What the hell is the point of TrueCredit? Seriously?
Shrike
Since I canceled TrueCredit monitoring TransUnion only let me view my free credit report once. I can sign in but they require me to pay 10 bucks to see it again. So much for 30 days.Am I the only one to have these problems with them? I'm assuming this was an honest mistake and that if I call them they will fix it? I'll post here how it goes.
Shrike
As of April you can only view your free TransUnion CreditReport once. It is no longer available for 30 days.
FlaLawyer
I place these programs in the same category as debt settlement companies. They do nothing special. Split the year into thirds then during each third pull your credit report from one of the agencies. If you spot a problem, fix it and notify the other agencies of the problem.Another thing to be aware of is that different regions of the US give more weight to certain companies. For example, Experian may be the gold standard in the south for many creditors. The lawsuit against Lifelock tells you the business model.
