spectrrr
I got the settlement offer that I wanted agreed to.... BUT they're demanding a check on file tonight (45 minutes) or no deal. I wanted overnight a cashiers check tomorrow, because thats the standing advice. So the question is.... how end of the world is it to pay a settlement with a personal check? I really want to settle this and be done tonight....
echo1
you could do that and then just make sure only enough funds for that check will clear. then open a new personal acct. I am a noob so take this advice lightly.
spectrrr
Thats what I was thinking. I actually have two personal checking accounts (both at the same bank unfortunately) and I was planning on closing one this month ANYWAY. So I could pay them with that, close the account, and hopefully I wouldn't need to close my other account then.....
willingtocope
IMHO, NEVER pay a settlement with a personal check. If they can't wait another day, then you can't trust them. They might turn around and double dip the check...or set up a monthly payment you don't know about. If the check is presented to the bani...most banks will pay it, then charge you overdraft fees. You realloy cannot trust any of these people. And remember...if it isn't in writing, it didn't happen. You cannot trust them to abie by any agreement they make over the phone.
