sb_8023
I have been under an unemployment deferrment for a Federal Loan with Sallie Mae. I just started working a temporary job that ends June 22, 2010. My deferrment with SM ends May 20, 2010. I cannot see how I can start payments with only a two month job. How can I handle this? Thanks
scorch
Don't worry about it being a temporary job. Concentrate more on obtaining a new one after you're done with this one. Then you will have the money to make the payments when you have something permanent.
sb_8023
I am doing just that. However, my concern now is my present situation. Having had only 2 calls on many, many resumes/applications, I don't know when the permanent will come about. My question remains, how does Sallie Mae handle temporary job situations when repayment is due to begin?
Troofer
Good question, I don't know but to bump it up I'll respond.
LynnInMN
Have you consolidated your loan yet? I would recommend going with the Direct Loan consolidation loan program.
sb_8023
Thank you for the suggestion; I already have. I will have received 2 paychecks when my 1st payment is due...that's the first two this year. Any ideas on how I can approach this with Miss Sallie? sb_8023
I spoke with SM on Friday. Thankfully, they were very helpful in that I was able to receive a Forbearance. Even though interest will accrue, at least I have a little more breathing room. Hopefully, I will secure a full time, permanent job soon and I will be able to start paying.
