ShootingFor750
I'm trying to clear-up my credit and have had every bad thing removed from my TU. Recently I received a "Pre-Selected Acceptance Certificate" from Best Buy. Does anyone know which CRAs they check to make a decision? The only card I have right now is a BofA secured visa. I'm tempted to sign-up for this, but don't want to be rejected and get another inquiry.I'm concerned because I have a CAP ONE and as you know they report every month as if I've just been late with them, so odds are BestBuy would decline me if they checked EX or EQ. Dre
What are your scores like?If I were you, I would stick only with the current cards you have now. It'll take some time for your credit score to go up. Make sure you pay your BOA in full each month and don't go above 30% of the credit limit. At the same time, keep working on deleting items of your CR's. Hope all works out for the best! Hope all works out for the best!I have one card now, BofA secured visa that I've had about 21 months. I was good about paying it off, but I'm near the limit now and plan on paying it down to about 50% before the due-date. That's the best I can do this month.Oh I'm deleting negatives BIG TIME! In August 2009 I had about 35 bads and now I only have 13 of them! 6 of those are pain in the *** CAP ONE, which I had 3 cards and EQ and EX are still showing them. Thankfully they're suppose to come off in a couple/few months. That's the main reason I didn't accept that Best Buy offer, because CAP ONE reports as if I was late every month. Dre
Yep. I would pay off the BoA credit card and keep working on the negatives on your credit report. If you really want the Best Buy card, I would wait to apply for it when the scores are around 640.
Tormented
Hello Shootingfor750,I recently had somehow gotten a HSBC BestBuy card, supposedly due to my Rewards Zone account in good standing. There was no verification that I am aware of. In fact I believe a friend of mine got the letter in the mail (i lived there once) and signed up for it. Fun times. I spent the next week and half arguing over their fee of 75$ on the new account never used (just for 300$ lol) and finally got it closed as paid off. This was a good Green Mark on my CR - not the intent at all, but it seemed to work out that way.If you do accept, make sure you see if there is a fee applied before you even use it. Even before you called the number to activate it. I found this out the hard way when logging into the website to check out this account I was told I had. Did this person open up the account behind your back? I decided to just black-out the invitation# so I wouldn't be tempted to just sign up for it. I really don't want to have my credit pulled only to be denied. I'm just going to pay down my BofA secured visa and have my TransUnion hopefully shoot to the mid 700s since that's what the BofA "credit analyzer" said would happen if I paid off my visa. I got EVERY bad mark removed from my TU report!!!
spunk999
I just got a Best Buy mastercard after going through their pre-qualification process and I was approved with not so great scores - I just got the card and I actually do not even see an inquiry on any of my reports. Here is the link I used to get prequalified - I guess they just run a soft inquiry somewhere (not sure where):https://www.hsbcapply.com/start/rewardzonemastercardI think you can fill out the first part of the screen to see if you are invited to apply there and if you are, I think you may get the card because I got it with not so great credit ... Ruger
I have a question about the Best Buy Cards. It seems like everyone is mentioning Best Buy Reward zone cards. Would it be the same approval chances as their regular best buy card?
spunk999
I actually applied for a Best Buy Store card about a month before I was approved for the Best Buy Mastercard. My credit report did improve slightly in that month, but I *think* the Mastercard is easier to get than the store card ... idk though ...
