Blockshopper VIOLATES privacy

Blockshopper(dot)com will not remove you from their site at your request, even if you are asking for security reasons. They will ask you to send MORE personal data like court records etc. They are stating it's public record. My friend who is struggling to be removed from this site was a recent victim of a violent crime. Her house was never placed on sell so we are baffled why this website has it listed, with a large majority of her neighbors as well.

Do they have a legal right to post your name and address on the internet for anyone to see?

Hmmmm. This is from public records anyway, so I don't know there is anything you can do about it. The only thing they've done is make it MUCH MUCH more convenient to find the info. Sort of like zillow and the information that they've condensed.

It looks like the search criteria begin with an address and not the other way around, so I dont see the problem. If you give me an address, within 30 seconds I can tell you who lives there, their phone #s, what they paid for the home, date of sale, mortgage company, amount mortgaged, if the people in the home are registered D, R, or I & when they registered, all criminal records, Bks, civil cases, or judgments of all who have ever lived there, and the amount of real estate taxes they pay annually. It is all public record....

I'm researching what exactly is "public record", the "internet and public record", and when/how/where can we opt out. I actually did a first/last name search on google & my friends home address, occupants, etc. popped up. I guess privacy is just a myth.

General rule - if it involved the changing of ownership, the signing of a contract, or another person...it is public record. No, not really, but assume it is.

Home purchase, home refinance, homeOWNER name, taxes, house value, address, hell - you look up my tax ID number of my house and it'll let you know if I'm late on my property taxes. How do you get the tax ID record? Address and the county website.

The info that I listed above was always public record, but I think technology has created aggregation and accessibility of that information to a problematic level. But the genie is out of the bottle, so I think we'll just have to get used to it.

These are all public records. (or apart of records that are public). It may seem invasive but there is not much people can do with this information.

I'm aggressively researching this trying to get the CA civil code that allows this, I have to figure out if it's ANY WAY possible to have this information shielded from the Internet a minimum.
