BobTheRebuilder
Hello,After procrastinating for all summer, I'm finally about to put all my energy and free time in tackling my credit. It's not horrible, but it's definitely not great at 660. In total, I have 6 items to attack. The first big ones are current collection accounts, (3 in total). All are beyond the SoL and I have my letters ready to fire off! But before I do, do I need to send a letter to each CRA stating I'm disputing these items? I have 2 OCs I have to 623 and understand I do include the CRAs first, but since I'm sending these to the CA and they're basically "GoPoundSand/IntentToSue" letters, do I need to notify the CRAs? If it makes a difference, two of the CAs I'm sending a letter to have a corresponding OC I'm going to 623.Appreciate any insight someone can provide! jchire2
Hi and best of luck.I am kinda new too, but I always read (and pretty much agree, as Im still new) that the first thing is to dispute first with CRA (EX, EQ & TU), then do your plan.Perhaps you should wait for a better response from someone who knows better
BobTheRebuilder
Hey JChire, thanks for the reply! I have no idea what I was thinking, but after looking over the Debt Validation workflow - and more specifically - the summary, it clearly says to dispute with the CRAs first. Now I'm wondering if I should dispute with them and send the zombie letters simultaneously or if I should wait for the CRAs to respond first. Plus, when I dispute the 3 CA accounts, would I also send in something disputing the two OCs I'd like to address...? Oy.
tx3amigos
As I read the debt repair info at this site (probably read it 6 times until I really understood it)...it says to dispute (eg. not mine, wrong this, wrong that) with the CRAs first...and then WAIT until you get their reply. Some of your credit problems may drop off that way. The collection accounts that come back "verified" are the ones you want to send Debt Validation(DV) letters to. Even if you know you owe someone, get it validated. ( I just got my credit report in July and already one of the CAs has sold my account to a new CA...you want to make sure you deal with the right CA). I not sure about the 623 letters, I thought you sent those later down the line...I'm sure one of the veterans at CIC will explain that part to youI'm having very good luck with 'pay for delete' with some of my newer collections...you could try that too.You also might want to do a "search" in this forum of each CA or OC you are dealing with. Read the threads for each. That way you'll know which ones are easy to deal with or which ones will do a PFD and which ones might sue you. It's good to know your enemies... Good Luck! BobTheRebuilder
Thanks for the input Tex! And couldn't agree more about searching the CA's. From what I saw, things with Palisades don't seem horrific. Well, I guess bad, but maybe not in comparison to what I saw about some of the Sherms. For my situation, I'm wondering if I should just send a "Verification" letter to the CBs regarding the 2 OCs I'd like to 623. In the DV Workflow, it mentions sending something to the CBs when validating, but my intention with the CAs is to just send a "Zombie" type thing. I'm wondering if it's even worth it to send a Dispute to the CBs for those 3...Btw, glad to hear you're having luck with the PFDs! Luckily, mine fall outside fhe SoL by almost 2 years, so I'd like to try my hand at this first. Heck, one of them's only $40.
BobTheRebuilder
Sorry to bump, but just trying to see if I should send out Validation letters to the CBs for three Zombie debt letters I'll be sending to CRAs. I'm trying to also do the 623 method on two OCs and know that I have to send each bureau a "verification" letter, but just wondering if I need to do something similar for the 3 CA entries. Thanks!
