KCG116
Several times I have ahd two differnt collection agencies calling or writng me letters with both CLAIMING to be collecting on the exact same date...How does this happen? Are the creditors assigning it to more than one place at once?Or is one of them in possession of the info falsely and just trying to steal money? What's going on here? Templar
Sorta a Red Flag against having much to do at all with either CA's. Retain all documents and a dairy of phone calls. Got Caller ID: Take photo of number. Voice mail/answering machine: Record and retain all calls.
debtorshusband
Several times I have ahd two differnt collection agencies calling or writng me letters with both CLAIMING to be collecting on the exact same date...How does this happen? You might want to consider this purely anecdotal, but I seem to remember reading that there have been times when a creditor would send the same batch of accounts to two different collection agencies, in order to create a competitive environment for the collectors. The collector who performs the best might then "win" further business from the creditor. Of course, this creates extremely motivated collectors who become much more aggressive.Regards,DH

That's why when you are dunned or sued you demand from the debt collector authenticated evidence from the alleged creditor that they have authorized and have knowledge of the collection action because as Oregonactor and many others have found out often times the alleged "Plaintiff" in a lawsuit has no knowledge of it. Law Firms who collect debt will often times hold on to it over a year, send it back to the Bank as uncollectible, then unbeknownst to the Bank they then file suit in the Bank's name.
