Can we ask a creditor to not report a perfectly good standing account to the 3 CRAs?

Is it legal or has anyone heared of something similar?

Thanks.:)

I have no idea why you would want to do this.

You can ask and they can say no. There is nothing in the law that requires them to report an acct. It only states that IF they report, it MUST be accurate.

Recently I had a large Installment Account that had quite a few recent late payments on it. I sent a "Goodwill Gesture" to the company to see if they would remove the late payment reporting.

They wrote back that they couldn't remove the lates but instead they offered to completely remove the account from all three bureaus and to never report again. It was removed like a week later.

I was totally blown away that they offered me a deal like this and I was grateful; it boosted my scores big time.

LOL! I'm in the same boat with chase. Applied for a credit card with them and got approved, but it was the wrong one. I asked that they close it because I wanted the Freedom rewards card. I did not need or want that other card plain and simple nor do I need it reported. I want the Chase Freedom card.

I've actually heard of credit bureaus deleting perfectly good tradelines if they are unsure of what you are disputing, so I guess you can try the dispute process as well as asking the creditor.
