kitefish
I was joined to a suit with an ex-spouse.After much wrangling and opposing MSJ (on both sides),my lawyer sent a letter threatening sanctions:Illinois supreme court rule 137.In a nutshell Plaintiff was blowing smoke, with no basis for joining me to the suit. The result: mutual dismissal without prejudice.Plaintiff is unlikely to re-file.I wanted blood, but ending a two year nightmare is worth it.Two wins.I am lucky enough to qualify for Legal aid. It's ironic because I could not afford legal help until I was stone cold broke. This forum helped me become informed, unafraid and proactive.
