confused_in_texas
In August I had an account that was closed and had a status of Charge off. In September I checked my CR and now the account is open with a status of Contact MBR on two CR (listed in comments), but it is closed with status of CURRENT ACCOUNT/WAS DELINQUENT 60 DAYS PAST DUE DATE ORIGINAL CREDITOR: GMAC LAST REPORTED DELINQUENCIES: 08/2008=I ,05/2008=I CHARGE OFF DISPUTE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION on the other one. How can the same account be closed and open? I will add that the two CR that have status of Contact MBR are under GMAC while the other one is listed under ALLY Financial. creditidol
Its the ole re-aging trick which is a violation, make sure you print that page you can use it to get the item deleted. Also check the date open i bet it is when the collector got the account...Also a collection can not be Late!! Another violation
willingtocope
Not quite. "Re-aging" is when they change the date of first delinquency (DOFD) which is the date you missed the first payment with the original creditor. Doesn't matter when a CA opens their TL.And, just to add further confusion..."OPEN" is both a status and a type of account. A type = open, means you could charge against it...like a CC. A status = open means the account is still active, but you probably can't use it. And, not all creditors report to all CRAs....and not all CRAs use the same software to gather information. Because it says one thing on one and something else on the other is not always a violation.Confused? That's the way they want it....
