naanee
I just received a letter from Chase Bank USA threatening to sue me if I do not pay the entire balance due, which at this point is $20000. My question is: when negotiating a settlement amount, is it better to deal with the people at the number that calls me multiple times a day on my home and cell phone or should I call the number on the "litigation letter", a totally different number, to plead my case? I live in Florida and also am wondering if anyone has experience in successfully negotiating a lower settlement amount
creditidol
If the debt is not old from the charge off time, they eventually will send it to a collector where you can beat it. Let them proceed as their is plenty of time to negotiate...
GrumpyGus
Yes, before I feel comfortable offering advice I would want a little more background. How old is the debt? Has it passed the SOL? If a junk debt buyer has bought your account then your tactic is much different then if dealing with an agent of the OC or the OC itself. vballchick
Another thought. You can also stop the calls to your cell phone or at least get violations for calling it via TCPA! They cannot call if they do not have your express consent. If they do, revoke it. It could add up for you.
naanee
I stopped paying on the card about May, so it has only been a few months. I don't believe they have charged this debt off, since they still try to call from Chase, not some collection agency. I am concerned that they really will sue me. What do you think?
