lbbk
I just received my cable bill and there was a line item stating...debit write off in the amount of $86.03. I called my cable company whom I have had for 7 years, and they told me that is was a bill from May of 2005 that was not paid. I have lived in 4 different places since that time, and I have always paid my bill. I asked them why it was just now put on there, and they told me that they never had my complete soc sec # so they never matched it up until I got married and had to send them a name change paper.I do not have records from 5 years ago, but I know I never left any bills unpaid. I was never informed of this bill. No collection agency's, nothing. So, my question is, can they make me pay this now? How should I handle this now? Any help is appreciated. lbbk
Doesn't anyone have any help for me on this one? I think the statue of limitations is 4 years in PA. If it is, then that cannot legally collect on this, can they? I want to call the supervisor but I want to know how to handle this. They sent me a paper that just has the account number on it and the statement balance of $86.03 on 2/13/2005.
WhoCares1000
Even if the SOL has past, if you want to continue receiving service from the company, you will either have to pay the bill or be able to prove you never incurred the charge. Otherwise, the cable company is not obligated to continue to provide service to you.
Guest usctrojanalum
Yeah I mean in this situation they basically have you by the you know what. If you want to continue using their cable service you are going to have to pay the money. However if you are willing change companies ie satellite tv or if fios is available where you live you can always do that.
lbbk
I guess I am going to have to pay it, but I have another question???..I just pulled a copy of my credit report and there are 2 hard hits from this cable company pulling my credit report. Can they do this without my permission? They pulled it 2 days in a row.
