diamonddan73
My wife and I went to Cabo San lucas in 2006. We fell in love with Cabo and bought a TS while we were there. Well we could not afford the payments any more and the timeshare is no longer ours. I'm not sure if it was foreclosed or not. I do know that it was sold to someone else and the title was transfered. We had a CA calling for payment years ago and pretty much gave up. Now that we are trying to clean up our credit, I noticed that I have a collection account with the CA on my CRA's. I was wondering if the CA can report it to the CRA's since the contract was signed in Mexico.
momof5
Good question. Was the bank that financed it in Mexico too?
diamonddan73
Well, I'm not sure if there was a bank. I have a CA named Monteray collecting for Villa Groups. Villa Groups are home based in San Diego, Ca. I don't think we used a bank. We made our payments to Universal Villa Group who is the developer. momof5
Someone had to put up the money. It should be in your loan docs somewhere. As far as the legality of the collection (in the US) and the credit reporting in the US, you may need to contact a consumer lawyer to find out.
