How to contact Verizon and actually get a written reply?

Hello everyone,

I just checked my yearly free credit report and noticed that AFNI has posted three negative items, all with the same account number, dates, and yet all for different amounts (yeah, figure that one out.. lol). I believe they took one old zombie account and turned it into three by changing the amounts. I never received any written collection notice from AFNI, so this is all new to me. The original creditors are all listed as Verizon, and yes, I did have an account with them many years ago, so one of these may have actually existed, though the SOL is far past.

I would like to check the original debt with Verizon and actually receive the original account information in writing. I'm not even sure the original account info even exists at this point, which would be just as good, but I still need as much written evidence as possible to send along with my disputes. I don't want to deal with AFNI's notorious "verification" runaround, I want to hit them with a documented KO from the start.

Does anyone know what the best strategy for contacting Verizon would be? This seems like a silly question even to me, but up to this point I have only heard accounts of people calling them. Frankly, I have no idea where or who to send a written request to. Is there a special process to keep from getting my request ignored, or do I simply write them at their PO box, asking for the original contract and payment info?

Thanks for your time everyone! :p

(P.S. - I've been searching the forum and Google for two days for an answer to this, so if it's been discussed already, I apologize!)

I am in the process fighting Verizon/Alltel. I started by sending them mail to the former physical street address for Alltel in Arkansas. They then forwarded it to whomever is handling their mail now. I would start there and see what happens. They have been decent in providing requested information, However, due to the crummy records they have I am dealing now with the executive relations department.

Start form the beginning. If they don't respond, work your way up, that way you are not seen as problem child immediately. Also keep everything and send CMRR whenever possible.

Thanks for the reply Adalida,

I spent over an hour on the phone today trying to get someone (three people actually) to give me the address of their billing department with no luck. I also sent an email and tried to use their real time chat service to do the same. You'd think they'd be forthcoming with such a simple request. No luck so far.

I will take your advice and send a general inquiry to their main mailing address.

:)
