Django
Had a $16k account go to CO status 2/2009 (not past SOL yet). OC turned account over to a few different CA's since then (all alleging different amounts owed). Recently the account and all negative remarks disappeared from all 3 Credit Reports. Curiously, the OC (Citi) sends me a new statement for the full alleged amount ($26k) payable in 30 days. Approximately 6 weeks later I get a call from a new CA, then receive a statement in the mail alleging yet a different amount referencing the same account.I am quite concerned as I had a >$5k account with Citi that was aggressively pursued and ended up being sued, before settling out of court. Can anybody shed some light on why the OC would completely quit reporting (removed from CR's)?Perhaps if someone has been through a similar situation, what course of action proved best?Thank you Edited November 4, 2010 by Django Missing Information
admin
Once the account goes into collections, the tie between the collection agency and the OC is severed. You need to dispute them independently The good news: You've done the hard part. An OC is much harder to remove from your credit report. Start the DV process with the CA. If they sue you, you have a much better chance of winning in court than with an OC.
