Johhnychampion
I've started my dispute process on 11/1/2010I received a letter from CA this week, stating the following:"The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance so that we may reach a quick resolution to your dispute""As part of our investigation of your dispute, it would be helpful to have a copy of any documentation you may have that supports your dispute. In the interim, we have requested that the three major consumer credit reporting agencies change the status of this account to Disputed"What should I do?Do I just wait for the outcome after thirty days? Johhnychampion
I've heard if you send a printed letter the CA can decline validation and say the letter is frivolous.
Prosay
I've heard if you send a printed letter the CA can decline validation and say the letter is frivolous. In the first place, it's up to the CA to disprove your claim...I suggest that you DO NOTHING TO ASSIST ANY CA IN MATTERS SUCH AS THIS...MAKE THEM DISPROVE YOUR CLAIM. Johhnychampion
Thanks Prosay, that's exactly what I was thinking.
WhoCares1000
I would either do nothing or send a letter stating that it is up to them to provide the proof without your assistance. As for written vs. typed, as long as you can prove that you mailed the letter, they must abide by it. In a court of law, whether the letter was written or typed does not matter.
GrumpyGus
This letter loosely translates to..."we have no real documentation to support our claim against you. Please provide us with some."This is a common trap to attempt to bait you into acknowledging the debt, the amount, payment history, etc. Once you recognize the debt, you lose certain rights due to you.I would not recommend communication with the CA. The burden of proof relies on them. The law does not require capitualtion to their claim.
mad as hell
after you sent your DV I would do nothing more. Unless you get sued. Your under no obligation to prove to them why you disputed the debt. there just fishing to get more info out of you.
