molly143
My sister was renting my house from me and I (foolishly) let her keep the utilities in my name. Several went severely delinquent without my knowledge, and one- the cable bill- landed in collections. I paid the account in full through the cable company (NOT the CA) and had just received the letter from the CA on three days ago.My question is, if I contact the CA and let them know the account is paid in full through the cable company, will they remove it from my CR or do I need to plead with them to do that specifically? I wanted to wait to contact them until I got some guidance here....Thank you all!!
thomassl
If the cable company stilled owned the account which you paid, I would contact them and ask if they will remove it. They are not obligated to do so but sometimes if you are kind and considerate enough, they will. You may also ask the cable company to contact the collection agency to inform them that the account is paid in full. If they contact them in writing, ask if you may have a copy. Recovering Attorney
Are you sure it is on your CR? If it is, I'd start with the cable company. Write a letter to the provider's CEO asking for their good will and ask them to tell the CA to delete it ( if it was the CA who reported). And , of course, respond to the CA by tellng them it was paid well before they got it and if they have reported it whould be removed or you will see them in court shortly.
