mom939409
Hello all I have a question that I am hoping someone may have an answer to. In 2008 my DH was sued by Messerli & Kramer for their client RAB Performances for an old Orchard credit card. We found an attorney and she had set something up with Messerli & Kramer where we would pay a 100 dollars a month until debt ($2489) until paid at 6 percent interest. That was the only time we used and had contact with the lawyer and over the past two years I have requested a statement of what the balance was, they have either ignored or refused the request. The last payment of $100 is due this month..but I am not sure how to go about dealing with the interest. I know they purchased this debt for way less than it was worth and I want to send them the last payment with a letter stating that due to their refusal of letting us know of the balance of the debt, which according to my records is paid in full to RAB Perfomances. I have copies of all letters and everything month I have made copies of the money orders before I sent them. So my question is do I just send them the last payment and consider it paid in full or do I try to figure out the interest on my own and send them one more payment which will reflect the interest? I greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Thanks so much and have a great weekend! The debt was acquired in Florida, charged off in North Carolina and we now live in Wisconsin. nascar
Perhaps you could contact the attorney who set up the payment plan for you and ask them to call for a payoff. In the meantime, you can go online and find a loan calcuator and enter the appropriate numbers. You should be able to determine how many months it will take you to pay off the principal and interest at the specified rate. From my calculations, you've got 26 payments of $100 with a final payment (27) of $64.76. Assuming you can't get anyone to cooperate, you can go back to court and move for a hearing to determine the remain balance owed.
