Greetings,

I just got a letter from MCM stating I owe such amount and some settlment chance. They say that they purchased this "debt" from CIT bank (not exactly sure but it is NOT citi bank). I sent them DV immidiately and waiting for a reply. Anyhow, the only thing I can think of is that a couple of years ago someone used my identity to purchase Dell computer in 2006; and I contacted Dell and they sent me an affidavit support. I sent them with every information they needed. Never heard from them since (it has been a year); and it is not on on my credit report anymore. Now it seems Dell sold the debt to "CIT BANK" and MIDLANd purchased this "debt". Please help. I have no negative info on my credit report anymore, thanx to this site and people. Thank you.

Did the letter include the 30 day notice? Wait until you get a letter back from Midland, so you'll know the name of the OC. If you don't hear from them, keep track of your credit report to see if they start reporting.

If the letter from Midland included the 30 day notice, they must cease collection efforts until they validate.

CIT Group used to provide credit to finance Dell computers, no relation to Citibank.

In 2008, CIT Group became a bank holding company in order to qualify for, and ultimately receive $2.3 billion in Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds. It declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 1 November 2009, and with the consent of its bondholders proposed to quickly emerge from bankruptcy court proceedings. The company emerged from bankruptcy 38 days later on 10 December 2009

Hi,

Yes, they said I have 30 days and I sent the DV in a timely manner. Also, I checked my credit report this right after I got the letter and they (MCM) are NOT reporting nor the OC. Thank you.

I see, how I know who CIT Bank is; thank you for the info.

wow! I had gotten the very same thing and sent out a DV letter this morning.

2006 was when everything rolled down hill for me. It is out of SOL in my state.

So if MCM is trying to collect on an SOL debt I have my guns ready.

I need to wait 30days and see what happens; if they try to place it on my credit report. TU 'removed' the CITBANK/DFS from my credit files (I hadn't disputed this one)which means- MCM will try to 'add' soon.

Hi,

it seems like we are on the same boat; and we have the upper hand, too. I am actually montoring my certified letter and I am hoping they will have received it by tomorrow...and see what they will send me. It is out of SOL in my state, too. We shall see the outcome.
