Debt still with OC?

I have 2 credit accounts that I verified are still owned by the OC, FIA. However, they tell me that they cannot negotiate a payment plan with me and I have to call the CA's assigned. One is with Viking and the other Fred Hanna.

Learning it is best to deal with the OC, is it still possible to do this?

I was told the same thing with Nords. Is the CA listed on your credit report?

I starting getting letters from the CA on behalf of Nords. I called them and they told me the same thing, Nords. pretty much didn't want to deal with me at all. $460 debt.

Nord is listed only not the letters I have been getting from the CA.

SO- I sent a PFD letter to the CA and CC Nosdstrom to settle for $250

and I am still waiting on a response.

Do you receive a letter from the CA?

First, FIA used to be MBNA; now its part of Bank of America. I found that useful, once upon a time, to know.

Second, when I was in this kind of position, the OC referred me to a Hanna and ilk, even at times offering to "connect" me with the offices. I think one of the reasons, if not the main reason for their refusal, is that: 1) they've charged off the debt, cleared their books 2) they now have farmed the account out and have a percentage deal with the likes of a Hanna. I've read differing deals, from a 60/40 to a 50/50 split, to even lower. The account is in its "churning" stages, trying to eke out whatever is available.

When I dealt with Hanna, whatever I wrote to Hanna, I also sent a copy of the correspondence to the OC. Whether or not this technique helped my cause or not, I don't know for sure. My premise was that if it didn't hurt, it might help. In those letters I always had a declarative question and answer like this: 1) Will I use every legal tool available to fight a debt that I do not owe, to the nth degree? Yes.

Anyway, I doubt if the OC will be much involved now, at any point. I would pay attention, also, to any claim by a Hanna and ilk as to who they claim to represent as a client. I've used this claim as a connector to keep the OC in the mix, making sure they're aware of any kinds of chicanery from a Hannah and ilk, and that Hanna is their representative, in effect, they bear some responsibility for the actions of a Hanna and ilk.

I've always leaned to the proactive...maybe for some, to the extreme.
