Debit Collector Settlement

Hi. I have a Credit card (chase) that has been in collections.

it has been sold to a Debt Collector. They Called me today to Settle for $400. Balance on Credit Card is $800

I am fine with the $400. I also have the $800 to pay in full.

What im asking is, Is it better to pay it without settlement Of $400?

If paying $400 will show settled, and the same if i pay $800

Why pay more?

I want to pay it regardless but i DO not want to Pay the debit collectors (Have been Lied to constantly from other Collectors and afraid they will take money and ask for more)

Can i call my Original Creditor(chase) and just pay them in full?

Here the info from credit report

Current Status: CHARGE-OFF

Credit Limit: $500

Balance: $817

Amount Past Due: $817

Comments: Charged off account,

Account closed by credit grantor

Credit Card #2

Capital ONE

Was in collections and i paid monthly payments. recently the Orignal creditor*capital one* has been sending me Letters to call them.( i will try to call them and ask to have the account "paid as agreeed"(do not want to settle or deal with a debitcollector)

Current Status: CHARGE-OFF

Credit Limit: $2,000

Balance: $2,067

Amount Past Due: $2,067

Comments: Charged off account,

Account closed by Customer request

THERE ARE NO COLLECTIONS (on my credit report)

Im getting more and more confused as i read :(

..Send a DV to both Collection agencys

When they Confirm they own the debt/validate it

If the OC's have not sold the debts, then the OCs still own them. The CAs are merely collecting for the OCs. Therefore, the CAs cannot delete the OCs TL. The OCs are under no obligation to delete their own entries. You can try to get them to agree to it, but don't be surprised if they refuse.
