Ladybugg22
Hello everyone!I'm a newbie and this forum seems great! I've been reading thru a lot of the posts but I'm still not sure what to do. If I could get some personalized advice that would be great!I have printed my 3 credit reports and there is 1 CO and 1 collection on only my Equifax report. I would like to dispute them to possibly have them deleted but I don't know where to start. I know I need to write a dispute letter to Equifax but I'm not 100% sure what my reason should be. I've read that you should start with "this account is not mine" but I'm pretty sure they are...However, they are both for the wrong amounts and one has an incorrect date. Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation proving this becasue they are so old. I am also wondering when the 7 year drop off will be...I'm not sure which date to go by.(also I've read I should call the CRA and opt out first...what does this mean?)Here is the info:Charge off:Roland Management (landlord)Installment accountDate opened: 4/2003Date Reported: 4/2010 (can they wait this long to report?)Date of last payment: 6/2004Amount past due: $462Date of last activity: N/ADate of first Delinquency: 7/2004 (when will the 7 year drop off be?)Collection:Carolina Country Club (landlord)Orginal amount owed: $2726Balance owed: $2726 (this in not correct, have made payments)last payment date: N/ADate of first delinquency: 5/2005Date reported: 6/2010Date assigned: 2/2006Any suggestions or info. would be much appreciated! BV80
I'll see if I can help a little. A negative TL stays on your CR for 7 to 7 1/2 years after the last payment. The one from Roland should fall off Jan. or Feb. of 2012 at the latest. If the amount for Carolina CC is wrong, dispute it with the CRAs. If you look at the top of the page, you'll see the 623 Dispute method. Just follow the directions.
