What exactly is a certificate of service?

See if your RCP's require it to be notarized. I've seen it done both ways in my state. Some have it notarized, but I've seen a few attorneys who didn't.

Having it notarized wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, nothing says it should be notarized, but I believe I will notarize it anyway. An ounce of prevention....

Where I'm from attorneys do not have to notarize their own signature, they can give what is called an affirmation. I'm sure that is the reason why you have seen attorneys who have not, it's probably the same type of concept.
