Xcalibar
In February 2011, a state appeals court in Illinois ruled in favor of a defendant in a debt collection case. But in its ruling, the three-judge panel wrote that collection agencies filing a lawsuit to collect a claim on a debt buyer’s behalf must include copies of all previous owners, the date of assignment to those owners, and the amount paid by the debt buyer. The case is sure to have an impact on collection suits filed in Illinois, and may provide direction for federal standards.
