credithopeful
Hello,I sent out goodwill emails to my creditors and am hopeful they will remove the adverse listing on my report. My question is, if they remove it, will that immediately increase my credit score? Or is it removed from the face of the report, but lingers in the background and there's a waiting period until it is fully gone?
willingtocope
Really difficult to predict. If the only things you have on your reports are negartive, and they all disappear, your scores will tank because you'll have no history. In theory, FICO only sees what is actually on your credit report, and, although the data does live forever, its only reported as seen. credithopeful
Thank you for your response to both of my questions.Unfortunately, one of the creditors responded and denied my request for an adjustment in order to be fair to the other students (college loan). Coltfan1972
I guess it can't hurt to ask, but what real motive do they have in removing the items from your credit? It's still a long shot but at least if you offer them something, even 15%, you might get somebody to bite.
credithopeful
Interesting, what do you mean offer 15%? I am currently making all my monthly payments on time. I was hopeful that they would adjust out of the kindness of their hearts as a new college grad who screwed up. My fingers are stilled crosses for the other creditor to adjust. It has been 2 days since I sent the email so I hope that means it is under consideration.
Coltfan1972
I thought you had defaulted on the card, so was telling you to offer them 15% of the balance. If you are not behind or in default, that won't work of course.
