cajun_duck
I have 3 different collections on my report for medical bills. I cannot afford to pay them all at once, but I do want to take care of them. How do I go about doing this without the collection agency trying to collect on all 3? Cliff2009
Read section 810 "multiple debts"This should be what you're looking for. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/legal/FDCPA.shtml"§ 810. Multiple debts [15 USC 1692h]If any consumer owes multiple debts and makes any single payment to any debt collector with respect to such debts, such debt collector may not apply such payment to any debt which is disputed by the consumer and, where applicable, shall apply such payment in accordance with the consumer's directions."Does that mean you should dispute all of them before negotiation?
