MwMom Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 If you buy a car at a dealership can that dealership then pull another credit report a year later and call you up trying to sell you another car. With the excuse that oh I just ran accross you app and didnt notice it was from last year?
1stStep Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Theoretically yes - it was probably a new sales rep that was going thru old apps. ///The dealer really should have shredded that app a long time ago...
BV80 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 You also need to take note of the type of inquiry. If it was an inquiry that's only seen by you (soft inquiry), it doesn't affect your credit score.
MwMom Posted March 26, 2012 Author Report Posted March 26, 2012 It was a hard inquiry on all 3 reports. One said credit transaction as permissible purpose and one said auto loan. The third didnt state why. I purchased a car from thier dealership a year ago and the financing is thru wells fargo. Im not understanding why the dealership can pull my reports again when I have not contacted them wanting to purchase another car. I would understand if wells fargo did as i have a continueing credit relationship or whatever you call it with them. Does this mean that when you put in a credit app anywhere that they can then pull your report anytime they want to for as long as they want to?? I feel like its an invasion of my privacy since Im not currently looking for another car. The salesman that called me was the same one that sold me the car last year he played it off as a oops i didnt realize this app was from last year. He was super pushy about me coming to look at cars even though I said I was not interested and dont be pulling my credit Im not buying anything. I literally had to just hang up on him as he was not taking no for an answer.
