rikkivs
The judge confirmed the trial for about two and a half weeks from now. He spoke privately with the spouse and the rental attorney in his chambers. The spouse brought up issues with communication and the umpteenth meet and confer letters we've sent to them and the judge mildly chastised the rental attorney. I don't want to put more details down because they are unique to our case, but I think it went well. There was absolutely NO settlement agreement between us and we are ready for trial! Coltfan1972
Excellent. Great that they sent someone that knows nothing about the case.I agree. To me that says we are raising the white flag, but just have it attached to the flag pole but not yet officially raised raised it. On a side note, I don't care for the details, but do you not think if they were reading this board they would be able to figure out it was you and your case. You just left a settlement conference, the judge took your wife and the other atty to chambers, there was a rental atty, trial is in two weeks, the judge scolded the other atty, there was no settlement agreement, and there was a dispute over numerous meet and confers? You really think this morning there was a lot of those exact type of activities taking place where if they are reading this board they would have to scratch their head and wonder out of the thirty cases that all went down this morning, just like yours, wonder which one was linked to you. bmc100
The best part of the settlement conference is when you walk out of it with no settlement and the attorney is ticked off. Now, they wont get their easy judgment. They will dismiss..be ready for a phone call saying they want to dismiss. Be prepared to counter them with prejudice to see if they will agree. I agree with this 100%. However, I try to not just limit it to just settlement conferences. At the end of anything, if the attorney for the other side is not ticked off, I've failed and must try harder next time.
