robert0803 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I have a charge off account for some furniture that I stopped paying on in 2007. I pulled a CR because I am seeking a mortgage. I noticed that this company is pulling CR inquiries from me on two different times within a week. Can they do that?
willingtocope Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Yep. You still owe it. They have "permissable purpose".
RockDaddy Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) And if they even *think* you're going for a mortgage they will hound you. Edited March 28, 2012 by RockDaddy
1stStep Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Or if they see a mortgage inquiry on your CR - expect them to contact you...
robert0803 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Report Posted March 28, 2012 I guess the next step is to send a Debt Settlement Letter to pay off and agree to have them put account in as PAID AS AGREED.
TomnTex Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) If it's out of SOL it might not hurt you to bad. I had two charge offs that were three year old at the time and still got a mortgage on a new home. Go straight to the lender them self and explain whats going on. They may not be concerned about it if its a few years old, then too, they may tell you to pay it off.Even if it was a year from now that you were going to buy, I would go to at least one good lender now and talk to them about it, that way you will know ahead of time what you will need to do. I had two banks approve me after being turned down by several so called mortgage brokers. Go figure. By the way, I got a good interest rate for the time, 4.65% Edited March 28, 2012 by TomnTex
