Dental Bill -- oral agreement

I was at the dentist in June 2009. I asked for them to get a pre-approval by the insurance before they did any work. They said they did and showed me a breakdown of how much I had to pay. They started the bridge and took the measurements one day. When the bridge came and I stopped by for the final fit, they said something about the insurance not paying because they had a "prior missing tooth" clause. So hearing this, I got up of the table and said "i asked for a preapproval by insurance, I dont want the bridge -- you lied to me"

They went back (dentist and the front person) and then after talking they said lets finish, you will not owe the balance -- we will take care of it.

So in March 2012, I receive a letter from a collection agency saying I havent paid. I have never received a bill from them.

So I call the company, and they said well we send you bills, and you should have received a statement from insurance that states they didnt cover. so I asked for the account summary.

The summary of the account showed: There was supposedly one bill sent ("one" and only one) in December 2010. However I never received that.

To respond to the managers -- well the insurance should have sent you something --- the insurance letter would have stated "this is not a bill" and I usually disregard those until a bill arrives (I have paid all other dental and medical bills that I have received in the past 3+ years -- I have nothing outstanding and a perfect credit score)

Even if I had received something from the insurance I would have not paid attention to it since I believe I have an "oral agreement" that I didnt owe anything,... but the fact was that I never received a bill, so I had no reasons to be concerned with the insurance paper

What right do I have -- what should I say to the company

When I said I needed to talk to the dentist to remind him -- the manager said -- Well he is in Seattle now -- cant talk to him

This happens more often than you think. Years ago I got surgery, out patience surgery. The date was set etc., and like a week before a lady call me and told me that the out patience facility was not contratced by my insurance, but they would do the same price as an in network facility. I said if that's the case I need iwritten proof of what you are telling me. She then said the person in charge was sick and could not send a paper. I told her well then I'm calling my doctor to reschedule an in network facility, and that's exactly what I did. Never trust thier word go with papers, no papers they will screw you, they just don't care.

First of all don't keep your mind double minded, It makes worse things. You have any legal document than you should take some legal actions against him.
