ihatejdbs
Hello everyone, i just pulled my EX report and notice this TL that i have been trying to get corrected or else.Last year this OC "forgive" the debt and issued a 1099C, i contacted them and i can't even make payments anymore as it was closed and a 1099C was issued, they basically say that there's nothing that can be done except to wait until age off. They basically tattooed it my credit file!! Ugh! I just checked my EX report and it says this:Status: Account charged off. $0 written off. $778 past due as of Aug 2012I taught they charge off the account, written off and therefore issued a 1099C,how come they're still reporting like that? I have disputed several times with the CRAs and directly with the OC to no avail.
willingtocope
They are reporting correctly under the FCRA. Nothing you can do but wait. In 2-3 yrs, you might try disputing it and they may have destroyed their records so they won't verify it. Also, depending on who they are, they mat sell it to a JDB...in spite of the 1099c...so keep an eye out for someone else coming at you.

Since they "forgive" the debt and a 1099 was issued for the whole amount?
willingtocope
Was the 1099c for the entire debt, or just the amount written off? If it was the entire debt, then yes, the balance should be $

If it was the entire debt, then yes, the balance should be $0Thank you for your response Willingtocope, yes, it was for the whole amount, but i have bring that up with the furnisher,Sears/CBNA to no avail, i don't know if it's that the reps have no idea or what.I have disputed with the CRAs and it always comes back "verified" with no change.I filed a complaint with the BBB,then received a call from the Citi office of the president and the person had no idea how this TL should report,i told her that it should report 0 since the the debt was forgiven and a 1099 issued. She had no idea, ugh, finally they sent me a letter stating that the debt was indeed forgiven last year and the 1099 was issued, i sent that letter along with a letter requesting for a correction of this TL to the CRAs, i'm still waiting for the CRAs to get this corrected.
