dwalt2400
I found the main site first before I found this forum. It had lots of info on how the credit debt stuff worked, articles, form letters etc. this forum has that stuff too. Up on top of each forum, and at the top of every page is various bits of resources. I just sat down and started reading. I have 11 negs, some are dupes of an original credit that was sold to one or two different credit agencies. Its a hassle but these people have cleared their credits up and I am going to follow them. Unfortunately, I also have alawsuit that just popped up too, so that has to be dealt with. One thing I read, was to take a break every once in awhile so you dont get overwhelmed. I also was told not to dispute too many debts all at once with the Credit reporting agencies because it would irritate them. I dont know if thats true. Im doing 4 a month ( new ones) and following up with the Debt validation process afterwards.Hope that helps a little.oh heres a link from above for the sample debt validationDisputing With Original Creditor - 623 Method, Request Investigation, Remove Negative Informationand it takes you to the site that has articles and info... another source of reading. BV80
I see on the CR that lots of them are set to leave the report in a few months... Should she pay those? If they're credit card debts and if they're outside the SOL for collection in FL, I'd leave it alone. If they're outside the SOL, she can't be sued. They're about to fall off her credit report. What be the good in paying them?

You didnt say if the the big debts were with the OC or with collection agencies that I could see.PS i was told here, the folks like everything in one thread for some reason.. ladyhunter
If she lives in Florida and these are old debts, keep in mind Florida Statute 559.715. If, by chance, a JDB obtained the debt prior to 10/1/2010, this law states the CA must notify the customer within 30 days of their obtaining the debt that they now have it. Failure to notify the customer within 30 days makes the debt unbillable and uncollectable. If a JDB obtained the debt prior to 10/1/2010 and did not notify her that they now have it, and they report the debt to a CRA or call or bill her, those are violations of the FCCPA (Florida State Law).On 10/1/2010 a revised form of this law went into effect which states a customer must be notified at least 30 days prior to their filing a lawsuit against them. Denita
The foreclosure, equity and car are older... Too old for lawsuit I believe...Maybe not. The lender has five years to persue the borrower after the f/c for the deficiency. When did the property f/c? Same with the HELOC. The car, I don't know. But some of these lenders are pretty sneaky about getting a judgment with sewer service. Have your g/f look up her name to see if anyone has obtained a judgment without her knowledge. If so, she can get it vacated.

If the judgment was rendered in a court in anotherState, the SoL is TWENTY years. If this is the case, it can list on the CR for the full twenty years or until seven years after it has been paid, whichever comes first. Unpaid judgments (public records) do not drop off credit reports at the 7-year mark like normal tradelines do.

Beergoggles
How about you scan the documents redact it and post it here. I could have sworn people have told you what things mean and how to get the ball rolling. Guess the answers are not good enough for you. Go ahead and see a credit repair agency and spend money. I do not know why when you can get all the free info here. How long have you been with this new girlfriend with the 25 negative reports? I sure hope it has been years and it going to be many more years. I have a feeling you will get her credit all fixed for her then she gets more credit cards and does the same thing. Its her credit she should be here not you. I bet you get all this taken care of and she bails on you. Just calling it like I see it sorry.

Beergoggles
do you have a scanner? if so scan and black out names, account numbers, and such and post them. That way people can see what you having a hard time with. If you have to post them on tiny pic or something like that do that and insert the link. Just get them scanned and posted. EDIT If I sounded harsh above it is because I could swear people have been answering you, but it seems like your ignoring the answers. I posted how to word things. You need to get a hard copy of your credit report from each CRA and then send them back to them with the things your disputing along with proper identification (copy of ss card, copy of DL, copy of a bill, any proof the said account is not yours or is not being reported correctly, and court docs you may have in your favor, pay off letters or receipts get the picture? ) you ask for proof positive and to either remove or correct. They do not care about your life's trauma or issues so do not tell them, they only show what is reported to them. If they come back verified then you can either accept it or write to the agency and ask them to show how they verified it and if not correct the remove or correct. This takes months and months to do. If you have judgements in your favor send them that, if you have judgements against you then you may well be out of luck on that until paid and then it will most likely stay there for another 7 years after paid. There is also a pay for delete ( hey i will pay you off if you delete).Copied from one of my threads from the All Knowing Racecar Hello Mr beergoggles I would start at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jspyou can check your credit reports on this site for free,if you should notice an error such as midland funding, If you suspect identity theft, you may need to place a fraud alert on your credit report, close compromised accounts, file a complaint with the FTC, or file a police report. Start by visiting the FTC’s identity theft website. If you see accounts you don’t recognize or information that is inaccurate, contact the credit reporting agency and the information provider. For more information, read the FTC’s tips on how to dispute credit errors. The federal FairCredit Reporting Act (FCRA) promotes the accuracyand privacy of information in the files of the nation’s credit reporting companies. You’re also entitled to one free report a year if you’re unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days; if you’re on welfare; or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, including identity theft.Experian - 1-888-397-3742; experian.comTransUnion - 1-800-916-8800; transunion.comEquifax - 1-800-685-1111; equifax.comUnder the FCRA, both the credit reporting company and the information provider (that is, the person, company, or organization that provides information about you to a credit reporting company) are responsible for correcting inaccurate or incomplete information in your report. To take advantage of all your rights under this law, contact the credit reporting company and the information provider.Tell the credit reporting company, in writing, what information you think is inaccurate. Include copies (NOT originals) of documents that support your position. In addition to providing your complete name and address, your letter should clearly identify each item in your report you dispute, state the facts and explain why you dispute the information, and request that it be removed or corrected. You may want to enclose a copy of your report with the items in question circled. Your letter may look something like the one below. Send your letter by certified mail, “return receipt requested,” so you can document what the credit reporting company received. Keep copies of your dispute letter and enclosures.Credit reporting companies must investigate the items in question — usually within 30 days — unless they consider your dispute frivolous. They also must forward all the relevant data you provide about the inaccuracy to the organization that provided the information. After the information provider receives notice of a dispute from the credit reporting company, it must investigate, review the relevant information, and report the results back to the credit reporting company. If the information provider finds the disputed information is inaccurate, it must notify all three nationwide credit reporting companies so they can correct the information in your file. When the investigation is complete, the credit reporting company must give you the results in writing and a free copy of your report if the dispute results in a change. This free report does not count as your annual free report. If an item is changed or deleted, the credit reporting company cannot put the disputed information back in your file unless the information provider verifies that it is accurate and complete. The credit reporting company also must send you written notice that includes the name, address, and phone number of the information provider. If you ask, the credit reporting company must send notices of any corrections to anyone who received your report in the past six months. You can have a corrected copy of your report sent to anyone who received a copy during the past two years for employment purposes. If an investigation doesn’t resolve your dispute with the credit reporting company, you can ask that a statement of the dispute be included in your file and in future reports.Dispute LetterDateMr beergogglesYour Address, City, State, Zip CodeComplaint DepartmentName of CompanyAddressCity, State, Zip CodeDear Sir or Madam:I Mr beergoggles am writing to dispute the following information in my file.
