Weary Traveler
Okay, this might seem like a strange question, but when deciding whether or not to hire an attorney, does the location of the Attorney's office matter?I mean sure, clearly finding an attorney that's located within less than an hours drive from your home would be ideal, but what if your research indicates that some of the highly rated, NACA attorneys in your State are perhaps on the other end of it?Can an attorney handle your case "remotely"? The attorney that's gunning for me is located nearly 400 miles away, so obviously there's something to this. Do they just hire a 'rent-a-ttorney' to shuffling into the courtroom like a zombie from the Walking Dead or in this day and age of tablets and 'the cloud' do they point, click or tab their way to summary judgements? SO many are settled before trial, but if you are hiring someone to defend you in a lawsuit it might be nice to have them close enough to be there when you go to trial but I'd let the attorney tell you if they handle cases remotely and if they do their own trials or bring someone in locally. The Consumer Attorney that files the FDCPA complaints for us is 300 miles away, we handle everything by email and phone, either him or his associate do the trials if they get that far and once that I know of he had a local lawyer show at the courthouse for a hearing.
