I sent this DV to Riexinger & Associates after recieving a phone call call from them. They are representing BUREAUS INVESTMENT GROUP for a HSBC Credit Card. They were being pretty nasty on the phone and couldn't give me any info other than HSBC,acct#, amount I needed to pay. After I sent the DV to them, I get a one page letter back that is from The Bureaus Inc.

This is sufficient for the FDCPA which is a very low standard to meet for DV (in other words, does not mean they will win a court case with it).

Your next options are to either talk to the collector, ignore the calls, or send a C&D letter.

1) If you talk to the collector, make sure to have a recorder handy and inform them that you are recording the calls. Even in single caller informed states, I would say this anyways. If they balk, inform them that this is your policy when dealing with organizations such as the one they are employed with and that their permission is not required, only them being informed and that may not even be required. You are doing that because if they are really nasty, odds are you will be able to get a FDCPA violation out of them and can go from there.

2) This would be just taking note of the number or letting the calls go to voice mail. After a while, they will either sue you or sell the debt.

3) You can send a C&D and that will stop any contact other than once to inform you of what they intend to do with the account. Again, they will either sue you or sell the debt down the line.
