anuva
I'm in Seattle, WA. I'm being sued for an old school loan debt. I met with a lawyer 12 days ago and he said he'll submit my answer, etc. the following business day (I'm not fighting the lawsuit). Its been over a week since then and I haven't heard back from him nor have I been able to reach him. I have 2 days left to answer this lawsuit and I have no clue if this lawyer has already answered on my behalf. Just to be safe and cover my bases, how can I answer this lawsuit myself? If that's not advisable, what should I do? P.S. - The court is King County District Court (West Division - Seattle), in case that's helpful. BrunoTheJDBkiller
No. You hired him, you're stuck with him. If he messes up your case file a bar complaint against him and sue him for malpractice.
1stStep
Call the office and use the phrase "abondonment of client." It could also be a strategy thing - I always file answers on the last day to let them get cocky...
anuva
So I can't answer this lawsuit myself to at least cover my arse?
Beergoggles
go to the court or call and see if an answer has been filed.
anuva
Okay, I'll try that. Thanks!
BrunoTheJDBkiller
As long as you have counsel representing you, do not file any pleadings or any papers in the case, it is highly improper. How about you just show up in his office and ask whoever is there just what is going on?
