Hi everyone.  I received a letter in the mail yesterday from RJM Acquisitions regarding a bill for Scholastic Books from 2009.  Then I received an alert that it appeared on my Experian credit report as of yesterday as well.  What would you suggest my first line of defense is besides just disputing with the CRAs.

Thanks!!!!

Do not pay them or any JDB a dime or you will reset the SOL and then they can sue you.

I think you can settle with a collections firm.  Just get a "this payment is payment in full" written agreement from them.  That will hold up in court.

Oh I'm not going to pay them or contact them unless it's a DV letter.  It's 4 years old.  I'm going to send them the DV letter and go from there.  They contacted me because I started working on my credit again and so my address and everything else was updated.

Thanks so much!

RJM is the scum of the earth, along with about a dozen others. Just ask Gunny! He has gone around with them too and all they do is they try to scare and threaten you after the SOL is past. I've fought them for years and usually a good C&D will take care of them. Personally, I would never give RJM a dime.
