Score keeps dropping

Just found this forum, hoping to find some answers! DH and I have lots of negatives on our reports, most due to his layoff in 2009, however a couple are from before. Most have been paid (credit card collections, medical bills). I found several errors that I was able to dispute and have deleted, but we have a few errors left to deal with. There are 3-4 unpaid between us, but im not sure what the best plan of attack is as far as how it will impact our credit. We rent, have one car payment, and one open credit card (dh's name only). Student loans are in deferment as we are both in school, both also working full time, so income is decent. I usually pay car early, we pay credit card a few times a month, and my one other payment is a medical loan, paid on time. Our credit scores just keep dropping.... We have gone from the 620-640 range last year to the 519-575 range currently (varies depending on where we look). I just don't understand how it keeps dropping! So frustrating. And I know I need more activity to improve, should I get a secured credit card? Any other advice would be appreciated.

Also I overpay car each month, pmt is supposed to be 392, but I have paid 400+ every month, so bal due each month keeps dropping, last month pmt due was 370, so I feel we are making headway but its not helping!
