Hello,

I received my bk discharge today in the mail.  My question relates to getting my "fresh start."  As a retired person whose only source of income is a very low Social Security monthly check, I would like to supplement my income with a part-time job if at all possible.  Will an income increase affect my discharge?  Thank you.

The only thing they look for after discharge is windfall type income such as inheritance and big lottery winnings (more than $600) and is for 6 months after. Increasing your income should be no problem.

The word lottery or windfall isn't mentioned in the bk code.

The only thing the trustee has an interest in is, if you receieve an inheritence, proceeds from a lawsuit or, a divorce within 180 days of the filing date {not discharge} it becomes property of the bk estate.

Otherwise, your financial affairs are your own business.

The bk code is federal. This is all the code says about property of the estate after filing.

(5) Any interest in property that would have been property of the estate if such interest had been an interest of the debtor on the date of the filing of the petition, and that the debtor acquires or becomes entitled to acquire within 180 days after such date--

(A) by bequest, devise, or inheritance;

( B) as a result of a property settlement agreement with the debtor’s spouse, or of an interlocutory or final divorce decree; or

© as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or of a death benefit plan
