We are currently recruiting for a Custodian of Records to join our Litigation department located in San Deigo, CA.

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for reviewing accounts placed for legal process, ensuring that filings are supported by appropriate and substantiating documentation, and representing the company as a witness or corporate representative at depositions and hearings.

Jobs Qualifications

  • Review and endorse, when appropriate, documents/affidavits requiring review by Custodian of Records on behalf of the company.  Review accounts associated with these affidavits/documents.
  • Represent company at court hearings and/or depositions as a witness, or corporate representative, as deemed necessary and appropriate in consultation with handling attorney.  Overnight travel may be required.
  • Maintain status as Notary Public and perform Notary duties on all necessary affidavits/documents.
  • Reviews disputed accounts and verify appropriate documentation and proper handling.
  • Review accounts set for trial and verify that account was properly handled prior to trial date.
  • Author and submit required correspondence to court clerks.
  • Author and submit responses to debtors to address particular inquiries from these debtors.
  • Manage document requests.
  • Maintain knowledge of current department policies and procedures and apply as necessary in appropriate circumstances.  Update department manager and team members about any recent changes.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of related experience as a legal assistant in a law firm or municipal or state court or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office software, internet
  • Must be able to work independently under general supervision only
  • Must exercise independent judgment and discretion when reviewing adequacy of account documentation, proper handling and when responding to questions during deposition and/or hearing concerning filings made on behalf of the company
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Proficient level of knowledge of Fair Debt Collections and Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is required

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related field preferred

they don't want a custodian of records, they want a legal assistant that can lie and say they reviewed records at or near the time they were created.  

might come in handy in a trial, they did not review the record until it was up for litigation, not when the business record was created-- all they did was drop OC's records into their own, and call it integrated, no one review crap.

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for signing your name on multiple legal documents, ensuring that you sign the minimum amount required, and representing the company as a witness or corporate representative except when you are unable to attend which is at any time required.

 

 

Jobs Qualifications

  • Be able to sign your name 50 - 400 times per day on documents that would require a CPA or Legal Professional weeks to verify.
  • Be available to not be available any time your are required to appear in any court in any state at any time.
  • Maintain status as Notary Public so you can swap positions with your cubicle mate when your hand cramps too much to write.
  • Maintain knowledge of current department policies and procedures such as how many documents you are required to sign to keep your job, and how many you need to reach each bonus level.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or verification that you can sign your own name.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in signing your own name.
  • Excellent name signing 
  • Good organizational skills such as signing your name 
  • Proficient with printers and ink.
  • Must be able to work independently under general supervision because no one else will be legally responsible for what you do.
  • Must be able to handle multiple signings simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quotas.
  • Must understand how to spell FDCPA and FCRA so you will know the difference when you are named as a defendant.
  • Be able to continue signing legal documents even when you are no longer employed by the company for any reason even while deceased.
