cjtx
One of the CBs started to include very old phone numbers a few months ago. They claim that it is a way of providing a more complete report, but obviously they are just helping out JDBs and CAs. So I disputed the numbers, they came back "Updated" but there was no change whatsoever. Some of them were extremely old, some had old area codes that no longer exist and some I had never seen before. I sent a cease and desist letter to their registered agent revoking any previous implicit or explicit consent to be contacted by them and advised them that any unauthorized release of any of my numbers would be considered an attempt to circumvent my request and that in doing so they would be entering into a contract with me in which they would be liable in the amount of $xxxx for each such release and for each call made by anybody who received information from them either directly or indirectly. So if they don't agree to the terms of the agreement just stop releasing my numbers. All my numbers are now magically gone!!! Has anybody else had success with something like this? Determined1
Hi CJTX, I've had the same problem, in my case with TU. Out of the 6 phone numbers they listed, 5 are not valid (several I don't recognize). The only irritating part for me is one of the numbers is my business phone number. I was planning on sending a letter this week to ask for removal.

kutuzov
I did update my phone number recently, is easy and no hassle. You just writte them a letter telling them you either don't own such phone number anymore or whatever applies, in my case they updated my phone number all 3 CRA with no issues, deleted the old ones. Also after they delete the old phones you can request a new free credit report for free, TU normaly just sends a new credit report when they delete something, Experian send you a paper that you click and send back, and Equifax doesn't send you crap, you need to call them and ask for a new credit report cause of the delete. No need for cmrr on this one, I send them all wit a stamp and was done. I wouldn't do a cmrr cause the basic purpose of getting them deleted was to get a new CR for free if I got to pay the cmrr I rather just buy it is like a buck or so more than a cmrr.
