energizer
Its been over a week now when i found out that i have a new account in collections from Convergent Outsourcing for $100. Its been atleast a month i think, that this collection tradeline has been on all 3 CRA's. I was notified by CreditKarma becoz i m on their credit monitoring list. Now, my questions 1) Do i wait till i get a first initial communication from Convergent Resources? 2) Do i dispute the tradeline as not mine with CRA's 3) How long before i have to get worried that i am not exactly receiving any first (initial) communication letter from them. What else can i do? i am of the opinion that it being only a $100 account i can pay it or wait to hear from them. However, i have had another similar account which when i missed validating the initial communication debt has been on the CRA's for over 4 years now. I want to believe its hurting my score. Its just bugs me that its on my CRA.
shellieh98
Do you know what it is for? If it is legit, it would be worth doing a pay for delete. If it is not, I would dispute it with the CRA'S. if you do a pay for delete, make sure you get it in writing.
energizer
It is for a Utility company and it is legit. There is another Utility company that has a $94 bill on my CRA's from 3 years ago? Do they have a different SOL. I am in Texas.i guess while i can definitely pay the original Creditor the full amt ($100) and get a pay for delete, i want to test a different route, just becoza) its on CRA and i have received no communication yet from the Collection agency Convergent Being on CRA and not any comm from convergent means i cannot yet DV them. Have to wait till i get the dunning letter from convergentc) I can start a dispute with the CRA as not mine, will that by any means have a benefit to me. i want to think it would only complicate things.d) i am hopeful that a settlement offer is in the offing from CA (Convergent); at that time a pay for delete might be a workable option. At least i think i will end up paying less than the original bill.

You need to do a pay for delete if you can't get it off by just using a dispute.
