admin
@azusa313 Did you send a copy of your driver's license each time you disputed? I suspect you didn't because they keep asking for it. You will have to supply the information each time.
azusa313
I sent my W2 as well as my licenses the first time around, trying to get some advice before I resend my information again. Equifax as well as the other bureaus have my current address listed. I also received a letter back from Equifax saying that it had been updated. Should I resend my information again. I feel as though they are just dragging out the process and not responded to the initial disputes.
admin
@azusa313 - you need to send the information with all correspondence. They could be trying to drag out the information, but they need to have proof each time you dispute. I'm not understanding the emphasis you're placing on your address - I must be missing something. azusa313
I am sorry if I am not explaining this correctly. Equifax keeps stating that the information I am sending them doesn't match what is on file with them. Even so I have sent them the same information in March and received back from Equifax that the information had been updated in their files. This information is also the same information that is being reported on the Equifax credit report as well as the other bureau;s. Are you saying that I should send them my 2 and license every time I dispute? Since the original dispute on 3/17/13, I have still not received any information back on the accounts that I actually disputed. It has just been letters to verify my information, a confirmation that my address is being reported correctly on the credit file and then a verify my information again. This is a VERY strong indication that they have your records mixed up with someone else (it is fairly common). Tell them EVERY address you have lived at for the past 8 years. Show what proof you can show, but most especially the last one. Tell them to send you a copy of all information they believe does belong to your file now, and to delete from your file all information they are declining to provide to you. Things to read about CRAs (they can be as bad as JDBs): http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57567957/credit/http://ftc.gov/opa/2013/02/creditreport.shtm

I also think they should be removing every thing you disputed because they had all the information on time. This is also something you can bring up in a suit. azusa313
Thanks guys, I am going to send a letter stating that they have this information already on file as well as they need to delete all accounts that I am disputing. I will provide all past documentation as well as the documentation that they are asking. I am also going to ask them to send a copy of all information they believe does belong to your file now, and to delete from your file all information they are declining to provide to you. I will also explain that if they don't remove these that I will fill suit. Do I need to state anything else on the suit side?
admin
Also if they don't update your address. It's important for identity theft purposes to have your address correct.
azusa313
Guess what I received today in the mail from Equifax? Another request to send proof of my identity. The same request that I have now sent them 4 times in the last 4 months. What should be my next steps?
schmitzy84
I am having the same issue with Equifax about sending proof for my identity because my records were supposed to be updated with my married name (as all of my current accounts are under said name). I requested my credit report and was told I had to mail in a copy of my driver's license and social security card to prove identity as my records are likely crossed with someone else's. I have sent them what they have requested and they still will not give me a new copy of my credit report and keep asking for proof of identity. CordusAdmin
@azusa313 - I was reading the prior threads and not really clear what exactly you sent them to prove your identity. Did you send them a copy of your driver's license and a copy of a utility bill verifying your address?
azusa313
I sent them a copy of drivers license and Pay stub with SSN. It asked for a copy of one item for each of the categories. Sorry for not being clear.

VADebtor
Are the addresses you're trying to get rid of old addresses you used, or entirely unknown to you? I've seen and observed on my reports that the CRAs ignore what we tell them, and rely on addresses reported with lines on your report. So let's say you have an olde, closed account with a five year old address - they will continue to report the old address until that line falls off. Is ther3e a reason you really need old but valid addresses removed? If you're seeing totally unknown addresses, then either your file is crossed with someone else's, or worse (ID theft). I agree, the demands for proof of your identity are truly annoying, but probably unavoidable. As @admin says, you probably need to send proof with each piece of correspondence. Have you by any chance used a service to try to clean up your credit (think Lexington Law, Allen Michael, etc.?) I think they get nasty when they see us using those sort of services as well. I think as strongly worded letter, not necessarily intent to sue but blunt, saying "If the information doesn't match it is inaccurate and you must resolve the inaccuracy with me immediately" is the next step. azusa313
@lionhunter and @admin. As I stated on July 17th, 2013 on this thread. -3/17/2013-Sent letter to Equifax stating that they were reporting inaccurate information-3/26/2013-Received letter from Equifax to verify my current mailing address. -3/26/2013-Sent pay stub and drivers license.-4/08/2013-received letter stating that current address is reporting correctly on my credit file. -5/25/2013-sent letter stating 30 day late letter and sent copies of all previous letters and responses. -6/12/2013-received letter stating verify my information again. -6/15/2013-Sent copy of pay stub and drivers license.-6/23/2013-Sent letter explaining the situation and that my original dispute has still not been dealt with. I also sent aall previous correspondence as well as copies of pay stub/drivers license, including the response from them stating that my address is reporting correctly.-7/18/2013-Received letter asking to verify my current mailing address Since March, my correct address has been reporting correctly on all 3 credit reports. I just want them to either verify or delete my original dispute so that I can proceed. I am not trying to remove or dispute my addresses as all, but rather trying to dispute accounts on my credit report.
energizer
@azusa I would file a complaint with the FTC and CFPB and put a sample letter of ITS on that file with CFPB? they will have your attention? Call within 10 working days to CFPB and speak with CSR.with CFPB, identify your phone# as well? it works!!!!!!!!!! You did all that you could and properly identified everything as asked of you!!!!! Its time now to get aggressive!!!!!! Everyone should only have so much patience with their credit reports!!!!!
