GlitterGal
My employer recently updated a standing policy that if the company receives more than 2 garnishment requests in the course of your employment, you will be terminated. They claim it is in line with federal law. Anyone heard of that or know anything about it? I'm not currently facing a garnishment, but I am curious. nobk4me
I know you can't be fired for one garnishment. But, more than one, the law is silent, so apparently they can fire you.
CordusAdmin
wow - I have never heard of this. I did just google that and I do see where an employer can not terminate you for having one wage garnishment. It does say: "in most states, this protection doesn’t extend to cases where your wages are being garnished two or more times (either consecutively or at the same time.)" So, my advise would be to check the laws in your particular state.
