Credit Report Duplicate Debt

Hi all,

I am trying to put my life back to normal, my credit report is a total mess, there are duplicate debts, lots of same accounts listed twice...

Is this normal to have duplicate, 2 versions of same debt on credit report?  One is from original creditor and then another is from collection agency? Sometimes original credit is listed twice for same amount, other strange stuff is with really old debts and even Gas company still reporting on my report for the past 8 years?? What the frek is going on with my credit, what should I do to clean it up, what are my first steps?

Thank you all for help!

R

Anything older than 7 years should go on it's own, if it doesn't dispute it with the CRA, do all disputes by mail certified mail return receipt request (cmrr). Also all that you see it's wrong dispute it.

For the duplicate TL from OC and Collection (Junk Debt Buyer), it's normal. Once the OC sells the account it should report as sold/transfer with a 0 balance and the JDB reports as collection the balance.

Definitely dispute anything older than 7 to 7.5 years and make them fall off.  Other stuff can be disputed and would fall off it there is no response.  What gets verified ... get the info on it and come back ... to the http://www.creditinfocenter.com/community/forum/173-credit-repair/ page and let us know what you have for the next steps.
