mopman64
Hi all, About three months ago I received the standard "you owe our client, blah blah blah and this is an attempt to collect a debt" So I did the usual DV and today I received a letter from them with a few statements. I am not worried because the credit agreement has a security interest and I am more then willing to give back the lawn mower, I also did the I elect arb in the DV. So I am just waiting for them to do something. Anyway, my question is; what if the don't validate in the 30 day period? I mean 3 months, really. kutuzov
No problem with that, you got 30 days to request DV, they can take as long as they want to respond. I got a Law Firm that I DV beginning of last year and as of today never heard back from them, and they could send me their response now if they wanted. BV80
Kutozov is correct. The 30-day time limit applies to the consumer, not to the debt collector.
BTO429
They just cannot continue to collect until they provide a dv reply. They will either provide an answer, sell it to another debt buyer, or wait a while and hope you forget about the dv.
admin
They validated. They just couldn't have tried to collect from you before they sent you a validation. You requested it within the 30 day period. @mopman64
