tgsterner2010
What is the next step for a person such as myself who fired off the full length debt validation letter before finding this forum. In which this forum pointed out, that this is not a smart idea. The biggest issue I have is with a collector called Hunter Warfield and Carter Young. During a divorce in TX an apartment lease was broken, I had moved out and the ex stayed for a few months and left the lease unpaid for the last 6 months of the lease once she moved out. We had a surity bond purchased instead of a deposit. This was required by the apartments. The surity bond was supposed to cover anything in regards to a breach of the lease. Now on my CC report are 3 different negative items and when combined create a debt $8200.00. The breach of the lease was approximately 4 1/2 years ago. My ex nor I have any of the bond information or company who issued it, let alone a copy of the lease. She still lives in TX which is where the lease breach happened, and I have been in CO for the past 3 years. Not knowing, twice over two years I did the online dispute and of course it just refreshes it on my credit report. Novice mistakes in which now I'm trying to educate myself, but it is very confusing...

In which this forum pointed out, that this is not a smart idea. Its not that its a bad idea...its just that the CA isn't required by the FDCPA to tell you anything more than who the OC is and how mich they claim you owe. And, if you didn't do it within 30 days of "initial communication", they don't have to respond at all.
tgsterner2010
Well all the letters haven't come back and I have learned here that the creditors do not have to respond. Although firing off blindly Validation letters has returned 3 CA's removing 3k in collection items. I'm still following what I've learned here and continue to educate myself in these matters. I can say that I did little but study and spend a little time at the post office and removed 3K in collections. Thanks
