andherewego
I'm new here but have been reading for awhile It seems that the best option for removal for a couple of accounts I settled back in 2009 is to send BofA a goodwill letter? Or am I missing another better option?
S. Louis Blisko
First move would be to dispute it straight up. As the debt is paid they may not respond. If they don't respond it will be deleted. Always try the path of least resistance first.
admin
Yes, disputing with the credit bureaus is always the best first step.
spacemandave
After you dispute with the CRA's, you can use the GW letter to "fish" to see if they have any information on file for the old account. The only cost is a stamp. I got two dropped off my report that way, but they were paid off as agreed, just late. My accounts on which I settled for less than the full amount, no such luck. YMMV

andherewego
Thanks everyone for the replies! Sorry for being AWOL this week ... I'm just getting back to handling things today. I will dispute first and see what happens
