abstruse
I discovered this tradeline on my credit report for a cable bill that was disconnected in 2011. I sent a DV to a collections agency. I did not get a reply, but the tradeline was deleted. Today, I received 2 e-mails from the cable company for some credits. The credits brought the amount due to about $130 from $390. Has this ever happened to anyone? Should I go ahead and pay the OC of the amount due? I do not want this tradeline to be added back to my credit report. I would like to pay this off but I am not sure if the charges are correct. Can I send them a DV letter asking specifically for a billing history?
BV80
@abstruse The DV was sent to a collection agency. That has nothing to do with the OC's entry on your CR. An OC is not bound by the FDCPA.
1stStep
In California, original creditors are bound by the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act - Civil Code Section 1788. Original creditors can be sued in state court for violations.
